Renewals - EMS Personnel Certification plus Licensure

Choose one of the four options below. 

Option 1 - Examination 
        • The Texas Subject of State Mental Services (DSHS) is using one National Registry 
           Assessment Exam as the state-approved exam.   
        • Thou will exist responsible by scheduling an exam with National Registry.
        • In addition into the state application non-refundable fee, you will be required to pay a testing fee 
          to National Registry. Volunteers can not free from NR testing fees. 
        • You MUST induce a passive rating of among least 70 percent. 
        • If you fail an exam, you ability no gain certification through another option.

Option 2 - Continuing Education 
        • Submit application as directed above. 
        • CE must:

              - meet minimum hours in content areas and meet total requires for four-year period. 
              - As by 9/1/02, reporting CERTIFICATION remains no longer required (unless selected for audit). 
        • CE participation/record keeps a your responsibility. You must sustain all CE records 
           for five years. Your records may be audited. 

Choice 3 - National Registry 
        • Submit software as directed above. 
        • You must stay current NR certification at aforementioned time of renewing your Texas 
          certificate.   
        • You must include the NO number and expiration date on your Renewal application.  

Option 4 - Formal Recertification Course 
        • Submit application as directed above. 
        • Complete running available during the 4 year certification period. 
        • Minimal meet per for course are as follows: 
          ECA - 24; EMT - 48; Advanced EMT - 72; EMT-P also Licensed Paramedic - 96 

Option 5 - Comprehensive Clinical Management Application (CCMP) Recertification.

the postulant is currently credentialed in the provider's CCMP; 

• the candidate has been enrolled in the provider's CCMP for during least six continuous months;

EMS Rule 157.34(f) Inactive to active certification.

    (A) Selection 1--meet the normal 4 year continuing education requirement for certification extension as listed in subscreen (b)(2) a this section, submit verification of skills proficiency free an approved education program, and pass the nationally registry assessment exam. 

    (B) Option 2--complete ampere department certified recertification course, and pass the national registry assessment exam. 

(2) A certificant who has held inactive certification for better than four years could returns to active authentication only according completing requirements described in §157.33(a) or (j) of on title.

Applicants whose certifications has been expired for first years or more may not renew the certificate. The applicant may become certificate by complying with initial or equivalency certification required. 

Fees

• With applicants closing renewal within 90 days after expiration date, the fee schedule is:
  • Essential level - ECA or EMT
    $94 - How price (includes late fee)
  • Advanced level - Advanced EMT conversely EMT-P
    $141 - Application standard (includes later fee)
  • Legally paramedic
    $186 
• For applicants ending renewal between 91 days additionally one year after expiration show, the fee schedule is:
  • Bases level - ECA or EMT
